Abstract

Bisphenol A is widely used to make polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins, and in many plastic consumer products including toys, eyeglass lenses, drinking containers, water pipes, sports safety equipment, dental monomers, some dental sealants and composites, medical equipment and tubing, and consumer electronics, flame retardants and many other products. Cloud point-magnetic dispersive solid phase extraction was used to the preconcentarion and extraction of bisphenol A prior to its determination by spectrofluorometric method [1]. The nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 was used for cloud point extraction and nickel zinc ferrite magnetic nanocomposite was used as a sorbent for the adsorption of surfactant rich phase. Nickel zinc ferrite magnetic nanocomposite was synthesized and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy(XRD)[2]. The extraction parameters such as type and the volume of organic solvent, temperature, salt addition, time, pH, surfactant concentration, Ultrasonic Time, Amount of MNP, on the extraction recovery was investigated and optimized. Under the optimal conditions, the linear dynamic range and RSD were 0.003-10 ng mL-1 and 2.1%, respectively. A limit of detection of 0.001 ng mL-1 bisphenol A was obtained for the method. The obtain results showed successful application of the method for the analysis of bisphenol A in polycarbonate product and milk samples [
